The award winning Ferndale Friendship Community Garden is located south of Pioneer Park near the baseball fields. Residents from the greater Ferndale community gather to maintain the community garden which provides fresh food for the Ferndale food bank.
There are also 25 family plots and #3 hoop house so individual families can plant and harvest their own vegetables.
In addition, a children’s garden, maintained by Boys and Girls Club members and Whatcom County Master Gardeners, provides an after school activity so young adults can learn and contribute to the greater Ferndale Community.
Gloria J. Perez is the FFCG garden coordinator. She began as volunteer at the garden in 2008 and has been the coordinator since 2010. She is a Whatcom County Master Gardener and is currently a member of the WSU Whatcom County Community First Garden Project Steering Committee.
