Family Funds

The Ferndalfamily fund logoe Family Community Fund was established in 2012 in partnership with the Ferndale School District’s Readiness-to-Learn Program. At that time, its primary focus was to provide basic school supplies and backpacks to children from low-income families.

In 2015, the Ferndale School District started providing all students in grades K-5 with their required school supplies in an effort to provide a free public education to its students, but the need for a good, sturdy backpacks remains.

The Family Fund knows that a backpack is an essential tool in a child’s education as it creates a link between school and home. Our goal is to have backpacks located at each elementary, middle, and high school in the Ferndale School District so that when a student needs a backpack, one is readily available.
